Google to open Shanghai research centre

Leading global search engine company Google is to open its third China-based research and development centre in Shanghai. The company has set itself and expansion target to more than double the number of Chinese sites using Google-generated advertising by the end of 2006. Details of the research centre plan are sketchy, as there is much yet to be decided. The other two research centres run by Google in China are in Taibei and Beijing. The company employs about 100 people in China on research related activities.
